FAQ

When are the roads closed?

On Sunday, October 18, 2026, from about 7:20 to 11:40 AM. Closing and reopening times differ by section: the east end (Chuo-dori, Yasukuni-dori) reopens around 10:35–10:45 AM and the west side (Sotobori-dori, Gaien-nishi-dori) around 11:00–11:40 AM. Times are estimates and may change with the race.

Can I walk across the course?

During the closures pedestrians, cyclists and e-scooter riders cannot cross the course. Use one of the 22 crossing points (footbridges and underpasses). Each point on the map says whether you can push a bicycle across, whether staff carry bicycles over, and whether there is a step-free route with an elevator. Tomihisacho-nishi intersection is for wheelchair crossings only.

Which sections are closed?

Gaien-nishi-dori (Nippon Seinenkan – Yotsuya 4-chome – Tomihisacho-nishi), Yasukuni-dori (Tomihisacho-nishi – Ichigaya-hachimancho), Sotobori-dori (Ichigaya-hachimancho – Iidabashi – Suidobashi), Hakusan-dori (Suidobashi – Jinbocho – Hitotsubashi-gashi), Yasukuni-dori (Jinbocho – Surugadai-shita – Sudacho) and Chuo-dori (Sudacho – Nihonbashi). Both directions are closed, and roads joining the course are closed right next to it.

Are expressway ramps closed?

Route 4 (Shinjuku Line) outbound Gaien entrance 7:20–9:20 AM, Route 5 (Ikebukuro Line) inbound Iidabashi exit 7:20–11:00 AM, and Route 5 outbound Nishi-Kanda exit 7:20–10:45 AM.

Where are the start and turnarounds?

Start and finish are at MUFG Stadium (Japan National Stadium). The course runs via Tomihisacho, Suidobashi, Jinbocho and Kanda to the first turnaround at Nihonbashi, then from Jinbocho to the second turnaround at Hitotsubashi-gashi, and back the same way. The wheelchair half starts at 8:00 AM and the half marathon from 8:05 AM.
