Yes, it goes ahead in the rain. Dates and times may change depending on circumstances, so check the Atami City Tourism Association (0557-85-2222) on the day.
The organizers recommend the sand at Sun Beach, where you can see the whole display. You can also watch from Sections 1–3 of Shinsui Park; Section 1, closest to the launch site, is the most crowded. There were no paid seats in the 2026 season, and the hotel-guest seating is only in July and August. Saving spots with sheets is banned in Section 1, and items left there are removed.
Atami Station is packed from 9 to 10 PM after the show. Buy your return ticket or top up your IC card in advance. If you are heading toward Ito or Shimoda, the organizers ask you to board at Kinomiya Station. From Section 2 it is about 1.1 km to Kinomiya via the Chuo-cho intersection and the Fukudo-cho signal.
Roads are closed only for the July and August shows; those closures are not on this map. Nearby lots include the Higashi municipal car park (about 250 spaces, ¥110 per 30 min), but they fill up quickly and exiting takes time after the show because pedestrians get priority. The organizers recommend coming by train.
About 15 food stalls set up around Section 1 of Shinsui Park on every date. A beer garden runs at the Section 2 event plaza on show days from April to December (3–9 PM; not in January or February). The wheelchair viewing area is in Section 1 at the Sun Beach end, in front of Jonathan's. Watch out for bag snatching and theft.
