FAQ

When does it start and end?

Saturday, October 10, 2026: opening and fireworks at 5:30 PM, planned finish at 8 PM. A Blue Impulse aerial display is scheduled for 4 PM. Weather and event progress may change the schedule.

Where will the Blue Impulse fly?

Six T-4s are scheduled to fly their display on October 10, 3:55–4:50 PM, within a 15 km radius centred near Nukata, Konosu, up to 6,000 ft. The blue dotted circle on the map shows that area (not the actual flight path). Flights in the same area are also scheduled for October 9, 1:55–2:50 PM and 3:55–4:50 PM. Subject to change or cancellation due to weather.

What about the drone show and other highlights?

The Norton Special Drone Show takes place over the Arakawa riverbed from around 5:45 PM (the blue outline on the map is the drone flight area). The fireworks include a Guinness World Records attempt for the most 30 cm shells launched in three minutes, plus the famous 120 cm yonshakudama shell. Visitors may not fly drones; if one is spotted, the event may be paused.

Where can I watch for free?

Visitors arriving from Konosu Station without tickets should head to Poppy. Yoshimi also has free viewing. Both allow entry and spot-claiming from 7 AM on the day. No viewing on levees or bridges; Oma Neighborhood Park is closed. Weather may reduce the free viewing area. Unattended sheets may be removed after a warning. Poppy gets crowded from the evening, so come early.

When should I arrive?

The organisers ask everyone to reach the venue by 2 PM, and drivers to reach their car park by 1 PM. The 4 PM Blue Impulse display is expected to cause heavy daytime congestion. Even ticket holders may be unable to reach the venue if they arrive late.

Which station and route should I use?

From JR Takasaki Line Konosu Station West Exit, go to Poppy without a ticket or Nukata with a sponsor/paid ticket. They use different walking routes. Nukata is about 40 minutes on foot (about an hour from the evening). Buses and taxis are impractical, so plan to walk. From Kumagaya/Takasaki, Kita-Konosu Station is usually less crowded. Venue 1 and Venue 2 tickets are not interchangeable.

How do I return toward Tokyo?

Use the Konosu-shuku Wappu underpass to the temporary Tokyo/Omiya-bound gate on the East Exit side. Paper tickets are accepted too. The West Exit has access restrictions. Use the West Exit for Kumagaya/Takasaki; the organisers also suggest Kita-Konosu from Nukata. Follow staff instructions.

Are there paid seats and parking?

The official site lists Nukata Venue 1 and 2 tickets as sold out. Yoshimi has limited same-day seats at ¥1,000 per person, sold from 10 AM. Parking opens at 7 AM at Nukata Venue 2 and 9 AM at Yoshimi: ¥5,000 per entry, cash only, no reservations. Nukata usually fills by about 3 PM and is expected to fill earlier this year. Yoshimi rarely fills, but the road in from Yoshimi town is single-lane and can come to a standstill, so many drivers fail to get in on time. Poppy has no parking. Check the official site for updates.

What about road closures and rain?

Red lines on the map are roads closed to vehicles (tap one for its start time), except the red line along the levee, which marks the no-viewing, walk-through-only section. They are traced from the official map and approximate, so also check the official road closure map under Event Details. Part of the Poppy walking route changes after 5 PM; follow staff instructions. The 23rd traffic map shows vehicle bans all day or from 7 AM, 1 PM or 5 PM, depending on the road. Levees are for passage only, with no stopping to watch. Held in rain if launching is safe; cancelled in severe weather with no postponement. Use a raincoat in rain.

Are there toilets?

Poppy has men-only, women-only and shared toilets. Toilets requiring a ¥200 contribution accept cash only; keep the wristband on to use them repeatedly that day. Check on-site signs for their exact locations.

Anything else to know on the day?

After rain, the ground may be muddy; wear boots or shoes you do not mind getting dirty. Entry may be restricted due to crowding. Mobile signal around the venue is poor and may drop out, so agree on a meeting place and time in advance. Temporary toilets are limited and many are squat-style, so go early; a vacant stall can go unnoticed, so try the door handle. Days can approach 30°C but nights often turn cold, so bring a light jacket.

Can I send my saved spot or a meeting point to friends?

Yes. Long-press the map to mark a meeting point, attach up to 3 photos of nearby landmarks, and send the link. Recipients need no app: the spot and photos open in the browser on the event map, with viewing areas and road closures.
