FAQ

When is it in 2026?

Tuesday, November 3, 2026 (public holiday), 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM; the gates open at 8:00 AM. Entry is free and open to everyone. In 2025 it ended at 1:00 PM, so this year runs two hours longer.

What time does the Blue Impulse fly?

From 11:05 to 11:50 AM, subject to change or cancellation due to weather. The blue dotted circle on the map is the 2025 NOTAM flight area (5 NM, about 9 km, around Iruma Airfield). The NOTAM for the Nov 2 rehearsal (1:25–2:20 PM) uses the same circle; the NOTAM for the show day has not been issued yet.

What is the flying display schedule?

9:00 C-2 opening flight (paratroop drop), 9:28 YS-11EB, 9:34 CH-47J, 9:49 T-4, 10:05 C-2 and U-4, 11:05–11:50 AM Blue Impulse, 1:30 PM U-680A and 1:45–2:00 PM C-2. All flights are over the runway in front of the Main Area and may be cancelled or changed due to weather.

What else is on show?

The static display has Iruma's own C-2, U-4, U-125, U-680A, T-4, CH-47J and YS-11EB, plus an F-15 and an F-35 (Komatsu; the F-35's first appearance), F-2 and U-125A (Hyakuri), UH-60J (Niigata), E-2D (Misawa), C-130H (Komaki), T-7 (Shizuhama) and a GSDF UH-2. There is also a PR ambassador presentation and bouquet ceremony (around 9:15 AM and noon), the base band (10:30–11:00 AM), taiko drumming (12:45–1:15 PM), guard dog demonstrations (9:45–10:15 AM and 1:00–1:40 PM), cheerleading by the National Defense Medical College and an all-day art exhibition. The Runway View Area, east of the runway near the Sayama City Hall Gate, has an air defense unit display and Stall 5; the Kids Area near the headquarters building is only for families with children of elementary school age or younger.

Where are the gates and the nearest station?

There are four gates: the Main Gate, Inariyama Gate, North Gate and Sayama City Hall Gate. Inariyama-koen Station on the Seibu Ikebukuro Line is a 5-minute walk from its temporary ticket gate to the North and Inariyama gates, but it is busiest from 8 to 10 AM. You can also walk about 15 minutes from Irumashi Station to the Main Gate, or about 10 minutes from the West Exit of Sayamashi Station (Seibu Shinjuku Line) to the Sayama City Hall Gate. From noon, movement inside the base is restricted and the North Gate and the temporary ticket gate become exit-only, so enter by the Main Gate or Inariyama Gate. Seibu Railway runs a special timetable.

Is there food?

Stalls 1 to 5 are open until 3:00 PM. Stalls 1, 2 and 4 sell only goods and drinks; food and kitchen cars are at Stalls 3 and 5.

Can I come by car?

There is no parking on the base; visitors are asked to come by public transport or on foot (and not to ask about nearby coin parking). Visitors who need to come by car for reasons such as a wheelchair must apply in advance: applications for 2026 ran from September 11 to October 12, with a lottery if oversubscribed.

What can't I bring?

Blades, toy guns and laser devices, hammers and similar tools, alcohol, drones (including toys), gasoline and gas canisters, monopods, tripods and stepladders, tents, picnic sheets and carry carts, and kick scooters and skateboards are not allowed. Entering restricted areas, drinking, smoking or eating outside designated places, holding spots for long periods and unauthorized selling are also prohibited.

Are there road closures?

From 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM the road from the south exit of Inariyama-koen Station past Inariyama Gate to the traffic light before Sayama Police Station is closed to vehicles; pedestrians and bicycles can still use it. Chanohana-dori is one-way for vehicles during the same hours. In 2025 the closure ended at 3:00 PM and the roads around the Main Gate were one-way; the one-way lines on the map are from 2025.

  1. 08:00〜 Gates open

    Gates open at 8:00 AM. Inariyama-koen Station (5 minutes from its temporary ticket gate to the North and Inariyama gates) is busiest from 8 to 10 AM. You can also walk about 10 minutes from Sayamashi Station West Exit to the Sayama City Hall Gate, or about 15 minutes from Irumashi Station to the Main Gate.

  2. 09:00〜10:20 Morning flying display

    9:00 C-2 opening flight (paratroop drop), 9:28 YS-11EB, 9:34 CH-47J, 9:49 T-4, then C-2 and U-4 from 10:05 to 10:20. All over the runway in front of the Main Area.

  3. 11:05〜11:50 Blue Impulse

    Aerial display from 11:05 to 11:50 AM (may change or be cancelled due to weather). The blue dotted circle is the 2025 flight area (about 9 km around Iruma Airfield), not the actual flight path.

  4. 12:00〜 Gates after noon

    From 12:00 noon, movement inside the base is restricted, and the North Gate and the temporary ticket gate at Inariyama-koen Station become exit-only. If you arrive now, enter by the Main Gate or Inariyama Gate.

  5. 13:30〜14:00 Afternoon flying display

    1:30 PM U-680A, then C-2 from 1:45 to 2:00 PM. Taiko drumming runs 12:45–1:15 PM and a guard dog demonstration 1:00–1:40 PM. Stalls are open until 3:00 PM.

  6. 14:00〜 Heading home

    The show ends at 3:00 PM. Inariyama-koen Station is crowded on the way back too, so you can also walk from the Main Gate to Irumashi Station (about 15 minutes) or from the Sayama City Hall Gate to Sayamashi Station (about 10 minutes).

Launch site

  • Main Areaメインエリア

    Aircraft on static display line up here, and the flying display is over the runway in front. In 2026 the static display includes Iruma's C-2, U-4, U-125, U-680A, T-4, CH-47J and YS-11EB, plus an F-15 and F-35 (Komatsu; the F-35's first appearance), F-2 and U-125A (Hyakuri), UH-60J (Niigata rescue squadron), E-2D (Misawa), C-130H (Komaki), T-7 (Shizuhama) and a GSDF UH-2. The outline is the apron and only approximate; follow the layout on the day.

Traffic restrictions

  • Closed to vehicles (Inariyama-koen Sta. – Inariyama Gate)車両通行止め（稲荷山公園駅〜稲荷山門）

    Closed to vehicles from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, from the south exit of Inariyama-koen Station past Inariyama Gate to the traffic light before Sayama Police Station. Pedestrians and bicycles can still use it (official FAQ). In 2025 it reopened at 3:00 PM, so this year runs two hours longer.

    In 2025 this road was one-way toward the Main Gate from the junction to the west, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (official venue map). For 2026, Chanohana-dori is announced as one-way for vehicles from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but we could not confirm whether it is this road.

  • One-way for vehicles (south from the Main Gate)車両一方通行（正門から南へ）

    In 2025 this road along the west side of Sainomori Iruma Park was one-way southbound from the Main Gate, with no entry from the junction at the south end, 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (official venue map). For 2026, Chanohana-dori is announced as one-way for vehicles from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, but we could not confirm whether it is this road.

Walking Routes

  • Sayamashi Sta. West Exit ⇄ Sayama City Hall Gate (about 10 min)狭山市駅西口 ⇄ 狭山市役所門（約 10 分）

    The official walking route, about 812 m / 10 minutes. It avoids the crowds at Inariyama-koen Station. The Sayama City Hall Gate is on the east side of the runway.

  • Irumashi Sta. ⇄ Main Gate (about 15 min)入間市駅 ⇄ 正門（約 15 分）

    The official walking route, about 1251 m / 15 minutes. The Main Gate is open for entry and exit all day, including after 12:00 noon.

  • Walkable roads inside the base基地内の通れる道

    Roads marked "passable" on the 2026 venue map. From the Sayama City Hall Gate, the perimeter road loops around the north end of the runway to the Main Area (about 1.5 km). From the Inariyama and Main Gates, you cross the Seibu line and walk between the hangars. The venue map is schematic, so the lines follow the base roads in OpenStreetMap. Follow staff directions on the day.

  • Main Gate正門

    About 15 minutes' walk from Irumashi Station. Open for entry and exit all day. After 12:00 noon, enter by the Main Gate or Inariyama Gate.

  • Inariyama Gate稲荷山門

    About 5 minutes' walk from Inariyama-koen Station. Open for entry and exit all day. After 12:00 noon, enter by the Main Gate or Inariyama Gate.

  • North Gate北門

    About 5 minutes' walk from Inariyama-koen Station. From 12:00 noon, movement inside the base is restricted and this gate is exit-only.

  • Sayama City Hall Gate狭山市役所門

    About 10 minutes' walk from Sayamashi Station (West Exit). On the east side of the runway, near the Runway View Area (air defense equipment display and Shop 5).

Station

  • Inariyama-koen Station稲荷山公園駅

    Seibu Ikebukuro Line. The closest station, right next to the base: about 5 minutes' walk to the North Gate or Inariyama Gate. You can also enter the base through a temporary ticket gate on the platform, but only until 12:00 noon; after that it is exit-only. It is busiest from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, and visitors are asked to avoid those hours.

  • Irumashi Station入間市駅

    Seibu Ikebukuro Line. The next station after Inariyama-koen; about 15 minutes' walk to the Main Gate (yellow line).

  • Sayamashi Station狭山市駅

    Seibu Shinjuku Line. About 10 minutes' walk from the West Exit to the Sayama City Hall Gate (blue line). It avoids the crowds at Inariyama-koen; Seibu Railway also recommended this station in 2025.

Flight Area

  • Blue Impulse flight area (5 NM / about 9 km radius)ブルーインパルス飛行範囲（半径 5NM・約 9 km）

    Scheduled for 11:05–11:50 AM in 2026 (official program; may be cancelled or changed due to weather). In 2025 six T-4s flew their aerobatic display within this circle (5 NM radius around Iruma Air Base, up to 10,000 ft). It shows the flight area, not the actual path; most of the display is over the runway in front of the Main Area. The NOTAMs for the 2026 rehearsals (Oct 19–23) use the same circle (5 NM around the Iruma airfield reference point), so the show is expected to use it too. The NOTAM for the Blue Impulse rehearsal on Nov 2 (1:25–2:20 PM) also uses this circle for aerobatics, plus an 8 NM (about 15 km) area for the air display. The NOTAM for the show day has not been issued yet.

  • C-2 paratroop aircraft holding area (Kamifukuoka–Tokorozawa)C-2 空挺機の待機空域（上福岡〜所沢）

    In 2025 two C-2s took off at 8:30 AM and held here (about 1,500 ft / 450 m) before the paratroop drop over the base at 8:50–9:01 AM. After the drop they moved to the Higashi-Matsuyama holding area to join the U-4s. The 2026 opening flight (paratroop drop) is scheduled for 9:00–9:01 AM. From the 2025 notice to local airfields (Iruma Air Base). It shows the holding area, not the actual flight path. The 2026 airspace has not been announced yet.

  • U-680A holding area (Kawagoe–Kamifukuoka)U-680A の待機空域（川越〜上福岡）

    In 2025 the Flight Check Squadron U-680A took off at 8:40 AM and held here (about 2,000 ft / 600 m) before its display at 9:28–9:38 AM. In 2026 the U-680A is scheduled for the afternoon (1:30–1:45 PM); when and where it holds is not known. From the 2025 notice to local airfields (Iruma Air Base). It shows the holding area, not the actual flight path. The 2026 airspace has not been announced yet.

    In 2025 three U-4s of the 2nd Tactical Airlift Wing took off at 8:30 AM and held here (about 2,500 ft / 750 m), were joined by the C-2s after the paratroop drop, and flew their display over the base at 10:00–10:20 AM. The 2026 C-2 & U-4 display is scheduled for 10:05–10:20 AM. From the 2025 notice to local airfields (Iruma Air Base). It shows the holding area, not the actual flight path. The 2026 airspace has not been announced yet.
